Our Case Studies
Fire Suppression Projects
Windfarm fire protection
The wind farm about 100km north of Adelaide had 3 MW Vestas V90 turbines towers 80-metres above the ground each with a rotor diameter of 90 metres. With an investment on this scale, safety issues, and the environmental impact of fire-damaged or destroyed turbines, the windfarm was investigating options for effective fire detection and suppression.
The Ampol oil refinery, on banks of the Brisbane River, is a high-hazard environment where crude oil is refined into petrol, diesel, jet fuel and base oils for lubricants and specialist products that include liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and bitumen. Due to this process, the site needs reliable and effective firefighting measures and constant diligence.
Delta Fire solution protects steel industry plant operators
Steel industry services company, Australian Steel Mill Services, approached Delta Fire looking for a fire suppression system to protect their heavy vehicle operators. At Australian Steel Mill Services, they collect and treat molten slag from the blast furnace and the steel making processes and are responsible for the processing and marketing of approximately 1.2 million tonnes of slag per year.
Lightning protection boosts safety for resources companies
Lightning strikes are far more common than many realise and, with the changes in the global climate and changing weather patterns, they are well and truly on the increase. Australia is at particular risk because, according to a joint NASA and National Space Development Agency of Japan study, approximately 70 percent of lightning occurs on land in the tropics, where the majority of thunderstorms occur.
At Queensland Health's recently redeveloped and extended Mackay Base Hospital in north Queensland the main IT server room need a fire protection system installed. The server equipment housed in the room is of vital importance to the smooth running of the hospital's complex administration underpinning the wellbeing of both in-patients and out-patients. Its loss or damage following a fire could potentially have dire consequences.
Brisbane Airport's recently introduced an environmental protection policy whereby hangars will be approved only if their design prevents the release to the environment of any pollutants spilled inside the hanger. At a new 2500 square meter five start aviation hanger at Brisbane airport Delta Fire was contracted to install a firefighting system which needs to meet the new environment protection policy standards.
