Challenge
Outrigger Hamilton Island required the installation of a commercial kitchen fire suppression system that met the strict requirements of AS 3772 and AS 1851 standards. Delta Fire was engaged to design, supply and install an Ansul R102 kitchen suppression system for the new Outrigger facility. Working closely with kitchen consultants and key stakeholders, Delta Fire was tasked with delivering a wet chemical kitchen suppression system that ensured compliance with all relevant standards and codes, while also prioritising kitchen fire safety, budget constraints and tight project timelines.
Solution
Delta Fire worked from provided drawings and maintained strong communication with stakeholders to design a fully compliant Ansul R102 kitchen fire suppression system. Delta Fire partially fitted the suppression system onto the kitchen exhaust hoods at a Brisbane facility prior to shipment to Hamilton Island to streamline the project and minimise time required on site.
Despite logistical challenges, including transporting specialist tooling and equipment and managing site specific inductions, Delta Fire successfully completed the compliant installation of the kitchen suppression system on site at Hamilton Island. The project ensured high levels of kitchen fire safety for the facility’s operations.
Outcome
Delta Fire provided the client with a fully compliant, cost effective kitchen fire suppression system tailored to the specific needs of the Outrigger Hamilton Island facility. The project was delivered within the required timeframe, ensuring the kitchen was operational, protected and fully compliant with Australian safety standards, with enhanced kitchen fire safety measures now in place.
